We offer two and four week clerkship inpatient elective rotations in anesthesiology, diagnostic radiology, internal medicine, general surgery and urology. These clerkships serve mainly as a teaching experience with any "service" function being incidental. Fourth year medical students must apply to these clerkships via AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO).
Virginia Mason Franciscan Health plans to adhere to the ACGME’s Coalition for Physician Accountability’s recommendations regarding medical student away rotations for the academic year:
Other rotations are offered to currently enrolled fourth year medical students.
Application for unlisted Outpatient Medical Rotations for medical students and residents require completion of the Rotation Request Form.
Please note that three months are required to arrange rotations.
A provider “Host” is required in order to secure a rotation. VMFH GME is not able to seek or secure a VMFH Provider Host on your behalf.
Once you are able to locate the "Host" willing to sponsor your rotation, please submit (or ask the Host to submit) a Rotation Request Form. You will be contacted by VMFH GME if there are additional questions or information needed.
Once the rotation has been approved you will be notified and given further instructions for proceeding.
