How To Apply - St. Joseph Pharmacy Residency (Ambulatory)

Licensed pharmacists or pharmacy students anticipating graduation from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited school of pharmacy may apply to the PGY1 Residency Program. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the state of Washington.

Potential candidates must register in the ASHP Resident Matching Program utilizing PhORCAS to be considered for a residency position. To apply for the residency programs, access the PhORCAS application portal, create an account and register with the ASHP Resident Matching Program.

  • St. Joseph Medical Center PGY1 in an Ambulatory Setting deadline: All materials must be received in PhORCAS by January 2, 2026 (11:59 p.m. EST)
  • Virtual interviews will be held in February

For consideration in the St. Joseph Medical Center PGY1 in an Ambulatory setting residency program, you are required to complete the PhORCAS standardized application and provide supplemental materials:

  1. Complete set of pharmacy school transcripts
  2. Three standardized professional reference forms and standardized questions:
    1. Two references should be from practicing clinical pharmacists with whom the applicant has had patient care experience
    2. The remaining reference can be from a faculty member in the applicant’s professional degree program, from work experience, or another health professional who can evaluate the candidate’s clinical experience
  3. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  4. Letter of intent
  5. Completion of a short answer essay to the following questions: 
    • Why do you want to be an ambulatory pharmacist?
    • Describe in detail your experience thus far in the ambulatory care pharmacy setting.
    • Describe your time management strategies and provide an example of how you have managed more than one assignment at a time.
