Grand Rounds: Topics and Advances in Patient Care

Grand Rounds at Virginia Mason Medical Center is an accredited weekly lecture series that began in 1952 under the direction of Dr. Randolph Pillow, who led the house staff training program.

Seventy years later, Grand Rounds continues to thrive, providing a broad range of timely and evidence-based content presented by Virginia Mason clinicians. Several times a year, an invited speaker presents at one of our annual lectureships held during the Grand Rounds hour. These include:

  • The John H. Walker, MD, Lecture in Radiology (January)
  • The Darwin J. Liao Memorial Lecture in Patient Safety and Quality (March)
  • The Joel W. Baker Lectureship in Surgery (May)
  • The John A. Ryan Jr., MD, Lecture in Surgery (September)
  • The T. Evans Wyckoff Lecture in Neuroscience (October)
  • The Keith Lundberg Lectures: Virginia Mason Residents Present Grand Rounds

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Grand Rounds program is presented via livestream on Zoom every Friday from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. except holidays and the month of August. Visit VirginiaMasonCME.org for program information, upcoming topics or to enroll in the series.
