Continuing Nursing Education

Virginia Mason's Continuing Nursing Education provides educational activities for registered nurses (RNs) and other interested health-care professionals to enhance knowledge, increase skills and promote positive patient care outcomes. Contact hour credit is awarded upon successful completion of the entire educational activity.

This class is designed for inpatient and ambulatory nurses, monitor technicians, and cardiovascular lab technicians who use 12-lead ECGs in their clinical practice. This class will discuss:

  • Anatomy of a 12-lead ECG
  • How ECG leads monitor electrical activity
  • How to identify abnormalities such as ST elevation and depression, bundle branch blocks, and aberrancy

Participants will practice with 12-lead ECG interpretation and developing a plan of care for a patient with a cardiac abnormality. Attendees should have a basic knowledge of rhythm recognition prior to attending.
