Who we are
Faith communities play a vital role in the wellness of our communities. They bring people together, promote connections, naturally care for one another and are trusted messengers. The Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Congregational Health Ministries Network is an interfaith partnership that empowers faith community nurses and lay health ministers to develop and sustain a health ministry within their faith community. Virginia Mason Franciscan Health provides active support and resources to ensure these teams have the tools they need to be impactful, and has fostered health ministry teams within local congregations for over two decades.
Why partner with faith communities?
Communities of most faith traditions have been deeply rooted in the concepts of wholeness, wellness and healing since their beginning, and the idea of unity of body, mind and spirit is foundational in Judeo-Christian thought. A health ministry gives these concepts a visible presence, integrating both faith and health and tends to the total wellness of the individual. A health ministry further serves as an avenue to reach out to one's community, and fosters faith community collaboration with other community groups, agencies and health systems.
