COVID-19 Visitor and Companion Policy - Effective Sept. 1
With changing COVID-19 transmission rates in the community, visitation and clinic companion guidelines may be affected. Please review the Visitation Guidelines before your arrival to one of our Virginia Mason locations.
You can now schedule in-person appointments and Virtual Video Visits in MyVirginiaMason in a number of areas including primary care for adults, pediatrics, routine eye exams, and many other specialties.
If you are traveling a significant distance to Virginia Mason for your surgery or procedure, you have the option to bring COVID-19 results from a local lab in your community. If you choose this option, please let your provider’s office know in advance of your surgery or procedure date. Please be sure to fax results to your provider’s office and bring a copy of your results when you arrive to the medical center.
Virginia Mason’s standard is to have a molecular or RNA test, which is designed to detect the virus that causes COVID-19. The antigen test is not sensitive enough for this purpose.
Virginia Mason will accept results within three days of your surgery or procedure, but you must quarantine between the time you take your test and the day of surgery.
For questions about this process, please contact your provider’s office.
If you have any COVID-19 symptoms (cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, headache, runny nose or nausea/vomiting/diarrhea) select the Video Visit Primary Care COVID Symptoms appointment only.
