Flu program participation required by employees by Nov. 3

Participation in the CommonSpirit Health flu program is required by all employees, physicians, volunteers, students, and others by the deadline of Nov. 3, 2023. Flu season in the Pacific Northwest generally takes place between November and March. Take action now to protect yourself, your family, your patients and community.

Participation in the CommonSpirit Health flu program includes receiving a 2023 flu vaccine and completing the flu vaccine attestation or submitting a personal declination. Everyone who chooses to receive the vaccine will need to submit proof of their flu vaccination via Employee Health (VMMC and VM regional medical center employees) or EmployeeCentral (other care site employees).

VMFH is offering team members the flu vaccine through mass dispensing events. Advance registration to receive your vaccine is not required. These events will include regular rounding events at each of our care sites. Please consult the following calendar for flu vaccine dispensing near you. Managers have been requested to make every effort to grant their team members time to participate in the program during mass dispensing events.

For employees who receive the flu vaccine at a VMFH mass dispensing drill:

  • VMMC employees: You will be given the opportunity to complete a form by your nurse, following your vaccination, which will complete your 2023 participation requirement.
  • Employees at all other sites: You will be given an opportunity to complete the flu vaccine verification in EmployeeCentral via a QR code by your nurse, following vaccination.

For employees who receive the flu vaccine from a non-VMFH event:

  • If you receive your flu vaccine from your own medical provider, pharmacy or other community-based location, you will need to complete the flu vaccine verification in EmployeeCentral and upload your vaccine card.
