Alexandra Schmidek, MD, has expertise in plastic and reconstructive surgery, with special medical interest in skin cancer treatment and reconstruction (including melanoma treatment and Mohs reconstruction); abdominoplasty (tummy tuck); breast reconstruction; and complex hernia repair. I cannot emphasize enough how cared for I felt during my time at Virginia Mason. I was undergoing gender-affirming surgery, which is obviously very sensitive. Every single provider I worked with went above and beyond to make me feel seen and cared for; the entire process was so smooth and supportive that I broke down into tears of gratitude after receiving a call from the office a few days post-surgery to see how I was doing. Thank you so much - this surgery is truly life-saving, and I owe it all to Dr. Schmidek's team.

Dr Schmidek is the best doctor and surgeon I've ever had. Professional, knowledgeable, forthcoming, and non-intimidating genuinity in her bedside manner. She seems to really care about her job and follow ups and it shows. Her sense of humor is just icing on the cake and makes each visit pleasant (and I am usually a severe white coat syndrome person!)I feel so smart to have chosen the best surgeon for my procedure. She is THE BEST!!!
