In June 2020, Eric G. Alyea, DO, was elected to join the ranks of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) as a Candidate Member. Candidate membership in ASES is a privilege and an honor only awarded to young orthopaedic surgeons who have completed a fellowship in shoulder surgery, elbow surgery, and/or sports medicine. Membership is by invitation only and candidates must demonstrate active involvement in scientific and clinical orthopaedic education and be recommended by his Fellowship Program Director.
Dr. Alyea in his first year in practice at Franciscan Orthopedic Associates in Burien, Washington, has a promising career ahead of him being recognized with such a national honor. Congratulations to Dr. Alyea on becoming a Candidate Member of the society.
“ASES is an outstanding organization founded in 1982 by a small group of like-minded surgeons interested in caring for patients with shoulder and elbow problems. Today, ASES has grown incredibly to over 1000 members and continues to be a global shoulder and elbow leader in education, research and patient care. It is our honor and privilege to welcome the latest outstanding shoulder and elbow surgeons into the ranks” said Dr. William Levine, 36th ASES President.
The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons was created to enhance the study of shoulder and elbow surgery and to foster advances in the field, serving as an educational body responsible for scientific programs and advances.
